Brennan Townschend Elite Triathlete
I started seriously training for endurance sports when I was 15, running cross country at quite a high level with the Tavistcok Athletics Club, I then had a brief patch of time when all I wanted to do was race Iron-Man Triathlons so took to cycling and swimming. Due to some running injuries I moved away from this path and pursued a career in cycling, training with the Mid Devon Cycling Club as a junior. In 2011 I won the Junior Tour of Wales. Following this result I was signed to race with Raleigh at the age of 18. In 2013 I raced for Madison Genesis and the following year and then spent some time in France on an elite team in Normandy. After some time in France I decided that I really wanted to go back and fulfill my dreams from almost five years ago and give triathlon everything I had.
I raced twelve triathlons in 2014, all Olympic distance apart from two 70.3’s. I had some consistent results and managed two wins and a handful of podium placing’s. In 2015 I set out to pursue 70.3 racing and so far have had some great success at the distance, winning Wimbleball Iron-man 70.3 UK and Castle Howard. Castle Howard was my most recent success, I posted the fastest bike and run splits of the race to finish 11mins 55seconds ahead of 2nd place. I’ve got a few weeks off racing now as I build up to the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Austria at the end of August. Il then be racing Hever Castle at the end of September and will be finishing off the season as a pro at Challenge-Mallorca.
Le Col have supported me a huge amount this season so far, providing awesome kit and a fantastic tri-suit that I use for racing. I wouldn’t of got this far with out all my sponsors: Colin Lewis Cycles, Pedal Potential, Huub, The Jeremy Wilson CT, Pulsin, and some new sponsors that have agreed to support me racing as a professional triathlete, Cervelo and OTE.
